Dinosaurs

:)My Brother is obsessed with Dinosaurs 🙂

My brother Danny loves dinosaurs. He has a dinosaur’s book. Any time he finds the dinosaur book he always wants me to read it to him. My brother Danny knows all the names of the dinosaurs.

All of the dinosaurs have  funny names. He always wants me to say the funny dinosaur names. Any time I say the dinosaurs name wrong he always laughs at me!  His laugh is so cute!  He brings the dinosaur book to bed with him.

I don’t like the dinosaur book very much. It gives me a headache . Danny has a toy basket full of Dinosaur toys. 🙂

(: Going to see the waves :)

On Monday I went to see the waves down the Skippers Road.It was a windy, rainy and stormy day. I  went with Dad, Erin, Hayleigh and Rebecca. We sat in the car because it was really heavy rain and stormy. I could hear the rain crashing onto the window of the car. I could even feel the car shaking  because it was so windy. When is stopped raining  we got out of the car. Dad and Erin stayed in the car because it was to winey for Erin to get out of the car.

When we got out  we  could see the cliffs up close. It was  a bit scary because we were really near the cliffs. We took lots of pictures of the waves. They were massive waves! I couldn’t believe it. When we were taking pictures Rebecca’s hat blew over the cliffs ( Her new hat ha ha). I thought it was funny but she didn’t. Then we went to Glengad as well. There were big waves there too. I don’t know if they were bigger then the ones down the skippers road. I had lots of fun down there. I really hope we can go again sometime. I loved it 🙂 ! 🙂 ! 🙂 ! 🙂 ! 🙂 ! 🙂 ! 🙂 ! 🙂 ! 🙂 ! 🙂 🙂

Dear Fernando Torres…

We have been practising writing letter to famous people:

Dear Fernando Torres,

Well Torres, Niall here… any craic? Just wondering if you have any day off training this week? If you have please come to my school. It’s great fun. We have a chart for everyday so we can do different sports and activities. I think the chart is bad because the lads and I always want to play soccer,  just like you.

Skipping is great fun too. You probably know that because you are so fit and active   just like the children in our school. We also play Gaelic football. You might not know what that is, but if you came to my school the lads and I will show you how to play it.

Our school have committee’s for being active and water conservation. I’m on the water committee but that doesn’t mean I’m not active.

Last year I played with my local Gaelic club Kilcommon [my parish]. I played u10 and u12. I love skipping too. I’m really good at it I’ll compete against you, and we’ll see who is better at skipping. My friend Eoin is also good at skipping so it will be the three of us.

I got weights for Christmas so I’ll be as strong as you. I also go swimming with my school, its great fun.

Our school have great equipment and we also have a active week every summer. We are having it earlier this year because we are going for our second active flag.

You will learn many things if you come to our school so please come to my school.

Sincerely,

Niall

Our water raps!

We had a competition for the best rap about conserving water. Everyone composed fabulous raps.
Here are some of the best of them:

Save Water
Saving water is what we do best
Because we all live in the west,
Putting in the plug
That is good
Because it saves more water
Like we should

Leaking taps and water pipes
Can make a mess and what a splash
So get your tools and get them fast
To save more water and save more cash.

Saving water poem

Saving water can be a lot of fun
Just make sure you don’t let it run

We can save water in many many ways
We don’t like to see things go to waste

When it rains and pours
Use a bucket for
Collecting drips and drops until it all stops

I know we can do it when we put our minds to it
Now let’s get a green flag and make ourselves glad

Water Rap
This is a little rap I say now listen carefully and I will say my rrrraaaapppp

Water is everywhere just look look look,
We use it to drink, cook and wash wash wash,

WATER RAP

Saving water is cool
So don’t be a fool and save water.

Have a shower not a bath,
Make sure there are no leaks or drips off taps.

So try your best to save water,
And you wont have so big of a bill.
By Eoin

This is a rap I heard years ago
Some people told me that I should know about water, water,
Everywhere we use it, everyday,
Now let me hear you say, Water!
Ah Ah Ah Aaah we love water.
Don’t set it on fire cause thats just weird for us all,
Water!
By Ailish and Lisa

Ya Inver School is the best,
They have great teachers and
Put you to the test,
They have lots of great things,
But the best thing of all,
Is saving water!
Let me talk you through it all:
Step one turn of the taps,
Step two take a shower not a bath,
Step three now thats the craic
Just do it every day and you’ll be grand.

Trip to the RNLI

R.N.L.I Facts
1. The RNLI was founded 1825.
2. Royal National Lifeboat Institution stands for RNLI.
3. We have 235 lifeboat stations around the coast of Ireland and England.
4. The aim of the RNLI is to reach any point 50 miles from the coast within 3 hours.
 By Ailish 

Sometimes the crew of the lifeboat sing this song:

On Thursday the 7th of Febuary we went to the RNLI back in Ballyglass. We met a man called John who works in the RNLI. He was very nice. He showed us around the RNLI Station. He showed us the uniforms and the teachers had to put them on. They had to put on very heavy life-jackets and blew them up with air. We went outside for a while then and saw the lifeboat. They showed us how to get on the  lifeboat.

Our Trip To The RNLI In Ballyglass

On the 7-2-13 all Inver national school went to the RNLI Station in Ballyglas.
First when we got there we got introduced to three men called Alan, James and John. James runs the lifeboat station in Belmullet. Our teachers had to try on the equipment the jackets, boats and even the life jackets.
We learned that John, Alan and James each have a pager. A pager is a small little box that sends a message when someone is in trouble.
After he told us that we went outside to see how the flares work Alan set off the first flare it was orange smoke that smelt really bad but it was really cool. And then he set off the second one it was a red light it would dazzle your eyes if you kept looking at it.
When that was all over we went to see Fred. Fred was a dummy that they use for training sessions out in the water. He looked really light but he was really heavy.
After that we all got to try on the gear the lifejacket was really heavy and uncomfortable it has loads of stuff in it like a whistle if you were lost in the water and a little light on your shoulder.
The day was great I learned lots of stuff I didn’t know and I hope we go back there again someday.

Our trip to the RNLI Station
Yesterday the 7th of Febuary 2013, our school went to the RNLI station in Ballyglass. We met man called John and he welcomed us to the RNLI station. John works there. The teachers had to dress up in the RNLI uniforms. The teachers said the life-jackets were very heavy. They told us the life-jackets cost up to €10,000 for 24 of them! I think we were all shocked. There was a man there too called James who works in the Bellmullet RNLI station but they only have a small station and a small lifeboat. Then we met a man named Alan. He showed us outside the RNLI station and he showed us the lifeboat. We also saw another boat. They use it to row out to the lifeboat. Then we met a man called Fred. But he isn’t really a person, he is a test dummy. They use him to practise on. We kicked Fred around a bit. Then comes my favourite part, the flare. First they showed us orange smoke. And then they showed us a big flare. It was really cool. Then we got leaflets about the RNLI and had our picture taken. I really enjoyed visiting the RNLI!

RNLI
On Thursday we all went to Ballyglass lifeboat station. When we arrived a crew member of the RNLI welcomed us to the Ballyglass lifeboat station. While we were in there they showed us the clothes that they wear. The teachers had a race who could put them on the fastest. Ms Connolly got it on the fastest. They said that the lifejackets were the heaviest things that they wore in there lives.
When they were finished we went outside. They showed us the flares. One of them gave orange smoke and the other had red sparks so that if it was night they would be able to see it.

Ballyglass Lifeboat Station

Lifeboat station

In the morning we left the school because we were going to the lifeboat station. I was very excited.
One of the crew talked about the boat and the how they train.
He dressed the teachers in their lifeboat gears. It was funny.
After we went outside and another man showed us the flare. First he showed us the smoke side and then the red light side. It was very bright. They showed us Fred the dummy. They use him for training. He was very heavy.
The teacher took lots of photos.
Then it was time to go swimming. We really enjoyed the day. We had the craic!

By Liam.

On Thursday we went to the lifeboat station.
It took a long time for all my school to go to Ballyglass.
Finally we got there because I was so tired of waiting.
When I we got there I saw a lifeboat in the sea. It looked so cool.
One of the crew showed us his beeper. Everytime there is an emergency it beeps.
Then our teachers dressed up in the crew’s uniforms. It was so funny.!!
The people there had a practice dummy called Fred .
They loved practicing with him .I think he does not like being thrown into the water.
Fred is so heavy.
After that the crew men showed us a flare , one has orange smoke and the other one has a very bright light to help you if you were in trouble.
Then we saw a lifejacket with all the different equipment in it. There is a blowing tube and when you blow into i,t it blows up the lifejacket.
I had a fantastic day out with my school.

Water Audit

On the 24-1-13 Laura from an Taisce came. She did lots of fun things with us. She talked about saving water. She drew a map of the school and marked where we used water in the school. We split into groups. In my group was Orla, Lisa, Ailish, me and Seamus. Each group got two rooms to check. We had to check the office and the teachers toilets. We made questions for intervewing the teachers. We asked the teachers hoe many cups of tea did they drink a day. Mrs Tyrell drank none a day, Mrs Connolly drank five a day Martina two and Mrs Garvin two.

Then we checked if the radiaters and taps leaking. They were not leaking. We checked the teachers toilets next. We checked how many litres the toilets used. They used nine litres. I think it sounds loads but Laura said it was good.

Then we calculated how much we used in the toilets. We calculated them. I can’t remember what we got but she said it was good.

I had lots of fun with Laura. I can’t wait till she comes again.

The End
