Mary Curran from the Whistleblast Quartet came to the school to do a music workshop with the kids before the Halloween holidays. She spent an hour with the junior room first. We learned about volume control, the names of lots of different instruments and where they originated from, like the french horn, bongo drum, bells, cymbals, sleigh bells, cow bell, wood block and many more. The children really enjoyed it as they were actively involved the whole time and exploring with the instruments. At the end, Mary gave each child an instrument and they created an ‘under the sea’ sound. It was very interesting and so much fun! Here are some photographs from the workshop.
