💥💥April in the Middle Room💥💥

We have been busy preparing for the First Holy Communion over the past few weeks and the excitement continues to build.

We hope all our 2nd class friends have the most amazing and special day and create memories that will last a lifetime.

In Gaeilge we have been focusing on the topic of An Teilifís. Bhíomar ag cleachtadh briathra

a athrú go dtí na trí aimsirí agus táimid ag dul ar aghaidh go maith.

Tá dul chun cinn iontach déanta againn freisin le hinsint an ama as Gaeilge agus

bhaineamar an taitneamh as ár ndúshlán critter ranga.

In Maths our focus has been lines and angles and working through one step and 2 step word problems.

Again, please keep up the tables practice at home. It will be so worth it in the long run and make learning new concepts in Maths less of a challenge, as you will be removing one obstacle by having fluency with the tables.

In English we are working on our comprehension strategies summarising and making connections. Our Genre is persuasive writing and it has been lots of fun listening to the oral ‘debates’ in class. We will progress to written samples when we are ready. The children are also learning about homophones and analogies in grammar. We will continue to work on Diamante poetry .

The children are brilliant at learning off their poetry and have already a repertoire of both Irish and english poems. Their vocabulary bank is expanding all the time!!!! which is wonderful and can be used then in their own writings.

In History we have learned all about Tom Crean. There was great interest and we also incorporated this into some drama exercises using our freeze frames.  We had a lovely nature walk while thinking about our senses and we incorporated this into Art by creating some unique nature collages.  We had fun growing our own crystals in class and investigated how their shape changed. Huge progress has been made with the tin whistle and we enjoy practising each day in class. Most of the children are eager to perform on their own for the class also which shows their confidence and enthusiasm. Maith sibhse!! We are enjoying GAA skills with Eoin.

Our Wellbeing morning was celebrated on the 26th April. The whole school came together to sing a song, share their special stories and then separated into mixed groups for some fun activities. Always an enjoyable time.
