👐🏼🌱🍀🍃🌍🌘World Earth Day 22nd April 2021🌗🌒🌏🌞🌛🌙✨🌴☘

We had great fun in the Middle Room discussing all the things we can do to help our earth We even got lyrics of a song made to really emphasis the important part we all play to have a happy earth.

Take a look at the poster competition we had. The competition was tough as they were all super but there could only be one winner. So well done Darragh! What a talented group of artists we have in our school.

We also went to the shore to check out what lives on the shore white investigating what shells are there and what they live on.

While we were on our way to the shore we did a litter collection so show his much we care about our planet Earth.

We also sowed some seeds to help with the habitats of other species for World Earth day. Look at all the talented gardeners in our classroom, Now all we need is lots of heat and sunshine.

We created butterflies using different things we find in our environment such as flowers, grass and branches. Have a look at them below.

The boys and girls in the Middle Room had another busy week on at home between Seesaw, Zoom, Pancake Tuesday, Ash Wednesday, a ‘crazy hat’ party, electricity going and getting their MIDTERM holidays.

The electricity going out on Valentine’s Day morning was the major feature in our classroom’s news this weekend but thankfully they had lots of board games and cards to keep you entertained. Have a look at some of the games that were played. Look at some roses and cards that were delivered to some of the students in our classroom too. It was a busy week with farming this week the baby lambs are being born at the minute as it is now spring time.

Have a look at some of the smiley pancakes which were made in the classroom for Pancake Tuesday with excellent pancake making, flipping, tossing and decorating skills. Some of the students made acrostic poems with the word PANCAKE while others made pancake topping recipes, wrote a poem inside a pancake template, designed a pancake for their classmates, parents and grandparents while others made pancake menus and write down the steps to make a pancake!!

Our class did some readings about Ash Wednesday and had a think about what their Lenten promise will be some boys and girls are giving up some things and some boys and girls are taking up some things.

These students deserve a brilliant, fun filled and exciting MIDTERM for working so so so hard over the past 5 and a half weeks online making history being taught from home. Have a sneak peak at some of the artistic creations for the crazy hat party. I am so proud of you all.

Well done and have a brilliant break you all deserve it so much. 😊

8th-12th February 2021

Another busy week amongst the wonderful boys and girls in the Middle Room. They had super fun preparing for Valentine’s Day and learning about the traditions all over the world and it was Ruby and Rocha’s birthday.

Some children designed Valentine’s cards and art from paint, buttons, tinfoil, pipe cleaners, beads , markers and pieces of cards. On family made flower arrangements for Valentine’s Day too.

Other children had great fun on their go-karts making a cool fort, feeding the donkeys, finding their sweeping brush stuck in an “ice berg” while others were making images from beading and out walking on the beaches. It is a busy season for calving a lambing so all our farmers in the room were busy checking on all the newborns. Now we know for sure that spring has sprung!!

For Mindful Monday they created Calm Jar from water, glue, pompoms, glitter, grass and colourful tape while reusing glass jars from their home. Mia and Emma starred on the Nuacht on TG4 in support of Chantelle Padden who is on The Voice UK singing competition. We wish her well in the competition and I know from the news that the class wrote on Monday morning that we were all watching her on TV last weekend.

Have a look at some beautiful free hand art that was done by students in our classroom. The detail is just super.

Then on Thursday evening the SNEACHTA appeared. Have a look at the fun they had in the snow between making snow angels, snowmen and snow volcanoes!!

St. Brigid’s Day 2021

The boys and girls in the Middle Room were very busy making St. Brigid’s Day crosses, her cloak patterns and drawing images of the King and making his sword and shield. They listened to the story of St. Brigid and about her cloak.

People believed St Brigid crossed through the land on the eve of her feast day and gave blessings and protection to homes and farms where crosses were hung in her honour.

Families would recite prayers, bless the rushes or straw with holy water and then each make the crosses. They would hang them over the door and around the home to welcome St Brigid. Many households kept the cross each year in the under-thatch of the house and you could tell how old a house was or how long the family had lived there by the number of crosses in the roof!

Nowadays some of these traditions still live on.

Well done boys and girls on fantastic work.

There were lots of boys and girls super busy farming and building helping out around the house. Brilliant helpers. Other children made a science experiment, did lots of PE aswell as playing with cool aqua beads and find mini ‘ice bergs’!!
