⭐⭐Junior Room-27th September-01st October⭐⭐

We had another fantastic week in the Junior Room.  The children took part in dance breaks, practiced their handwriting and pencil control, continued to work on the theme of homes during play time and worked really well on their fine motor skills.  The children took part in different games during P.E and worked very well on revising our sounds and phonological awareness.  We also had some yummy pizza on Friday to celebrate the children’s First Holy Communion day , which took place recently.   We look forward to another fun filled week next week.

⭐⭐Our first week back in the Junior Room-30th August-03rd September 2021⭐⭐

We had a great week in the Junior Room.  We would like to say a very warm welcome to the Junior Infants, all the boys and girls made them feel very welcome.  The children took part in lots of different activities throughout the week. They created games in P.E, worked on their fine motor skills, worked on their listening skills in Music and created beautiful self portraits to name but a few.

Middle Room – ✨✨Our first week back 2021✨✨

Our first week has flown by! This week we focused on revision in Maths and practised our mental Maths addition and subtraction using playing cards. It was lots of fun. Our focus for cómhrá Gaeilge was Mé Féin and will continue to be for the next few weeks . In SPHE we recapped our class rules and how to show kindness and respect to ourselves and others. We also started a ‘getting to know each other’ activity which will be completed over the coming week. In doing so we brainstormed lots of verbs and adjectives.  Children participated in Buddy Reading, morning riddles and puzzles, word of the day  and we practised good presentation when writing. Our PE focus was basketball skills and as a special reward we had extra time out on Friday for a couple of games of dodgeball. The biggest challenge was dodging the midgets!!! The children enjoyed some fun sensory time with kinetic sand and we listened to a little bit of our Novel Charlotte’s Web to finish each day. Looking forward to an exciting week ahead as we await  the All Ireland Final!

In the middle room this week the boys and girls  painted fabulous pictures based on summer.  We also continued reading Fantastic Mr. Fox, we just cannot wait to find out what will happen next.  Will the famers catch Mr. Fox and his family……..? We really enjoyed taking part in the various outdoor activities in P.E.  We finished off the week with a Kahoot quiz.  All the boys and girls did so well and we had so much fun.

📗📗The month of May in the Middle Room📕📕

This is a snap shot from the Middle Room for the month of May.  We worked on The Stay Safe programme, began studying our class novel ‘Fantastic Mr. Fox’ and learned all about Gráinne Ní Mháille in History.

The children worked on strand of Gymnastic in P.E and in Art the children created various items based on the theme of summer from clay.

We worked on An Teilifís as Gaeilge and had great fun recapping on what we had covered in the form of a Kahoot quiz.

1st, 2nd and 3rd Class-26th-29th April 2021

The following is a snap shot from the Middle Room this week. We had great fun celebrating Mayo Day and Active Week.   We designed Mayo jerseys, coloured in the Mayo crest, raised the Active Flag and really enjoyed our ice creams.  For P.E, we worked on the strand of gymnastics.  The boys and girls really enjoyed working on this strand.  On Thursday, we went to the seashore, we had a great time and the sun was shining.  We stopped and viewed the tadpoles on our way, we found lots of shells and wrote our names in the sand.

22nd-26th February 2021

The boys and girls in the Middle Room had another brilliant and final week of their distance learning. There were two birthdays celebrated this week Rhían was 9 and Chris was 8. A BIG Happy Birthday boys!!

The children got to make their name from their favourite things for our STEM project making sure it was the same length as themselves. They had lots of stories telling why and how they used what they did to make their name.

Some children decorated potatoes for creative art. Have a look at the creations below. On mindful Monday the children drew circles and thought of the different ways that circles show around us. Have a look what some of the boys and girls thought of.

There was lots of sight seeing and nature walks around the local beaches, trails and forests during the week with lots of signs of spring around including the longer evenings and the daffodils growing.

Everyone had a brilliant time on the MFitness whole school Zoom workout this afternoon. Well done to all.

We are all really excited about going back to school on Monday to see friends and learn from the classroom again.

See you all on Monday.

Junior Room Nov.30th – 4th December 🎶🎁🎄🎇☃

Another week gone by and the excitement for Christmas is truly building. We had a lovely surprise letter from Santa today and a special treat for all the kindness we see every day in class. Well done boys and girls! It is what Jesus wants us to be, just like Santa says ‘he is the reason we celebrate Christmas after all!’. This week we also started our Advent Kindness Calendar, where we try to complete the suggested kind act or an alternative one. Some of these so far include putting food out for the birds, taking unwanted toys to the charity shop and I know all the boys and girls are going to be flat out doing jobs for mom over the weekend!  We have had lots of fun games to practice our tricky words throughout the week also. The countdown is well and truly on! D.Tyrrell

Run around Ireland challenge

We are are very excited to be starting our Run around Ireland challenge next week. Each class in school will aim to reach various landmark destinations around Ireland, while also sharpening our Geography Knowlegde. Each lap of our Astro pitch will equate to 1km for this particular challenge and as a classroom, we will decide where we would like to visit. Keep an eye out on our Active board in the hall to monitor each class’s progress, which will be marked with coloured threads.

Thank you to the active committee and other pupils in the senior room for working out the distance from Inver to each destination!  Let’s get moving!

This month, while we continue develop the strand of Games in P.E. , we will be do using on the fundamental movement skill of Dodging. See picture below.
