💥💥February – Middle Room💥💥

Here is a little snap shot of events in the middle room throughout February.

The children enjoyed sampling their food dudes fruit and vegetables and getting to know the Food Dudes characters while learning all about the importance of Fruit and Vegetables in our diet daily.

We are continuing our Tin whistle with Angela on Fridays and enjoy practising it every morning. Huge improvements all round. As Gaeilge bhíomar ag foghlaim focail agus frásai nua bunaithe ar an topaic Éadaí. Ghlac na páistí phairt i cluichí idirghníomhach agus cluiche mbeirteanna sa rang. In Maths the children have been learning about time and fractions as well as number topics Addition, Subtraction (2nd) and Multiplication and Division problems in 3rd. For English our Procedural writing continued and we also put one into practice by  following the children’s procedure for making smoothies. Lots of fun!  The children also learned about the elements of Limericks in poetry and then composed their own Limericks in pairs and then individually. They had the opportunity to recite their Limerick using the microphone in class. They were very funny. For comprehension we were focusing on Inferring meaning and will continue this next month also, as well as Determining Importance. It is so important for children to not just read each day but to discuss their understanding of the text . The children are excellent at reciting their weekly poems. The children had fun taking part in Drama lessons which included miming, freeze framing and learning a little bit about Brendan Gleeson also. We are learning our new dance The Dreoilin in preparation for Seactain na Gaeilge as well as Amhráin na bhFiann. We look forward to celebrating Seachtain ne Gaeilge and also joining up with the other classes to show off our dánta, amhráin agus damhsaí. Stay Safe is continuing in all classes right up to Easter. It is so important to discuss worksheets sent home.  The children took part in the little Heroes First Aid training and were so happy with the visit from Seán Fahy, our local star!
