RTÉ HOME SCHOOL HUB

Starting on RTÉ2 from Monday 30 March, teachers on the RTÉ Home School Hub will present three short class segments aimed at 1st and 2nd class, 3rd and 4th class and 5th and 6th class. Classes will start each morning from 11am to 12pm, so plenty of time to get a solid breakfast in and maybe a quick walk.

Classes will start on television, for an hour, before directing the kids to fun content and projects on rte.ie/learn and the RTÉ Player.

And then the kids takeover, as RTÉ Home School Extra kicks off at 4.15pm where kids from all over the country can reconnect by uploading and posting video messages and content.

And it couldn’t be easier to add into your day: On RTÉ2/RTÉ Player/rte.ie/learn, children will be able to watch/download and engage with curriculum-based content, project work and fun activities that will keep them entertained and learning.

All content will be presented by qualified primary school teachers, modelled and curated around the existing primary school curriculum, so you can bring the best bits of school home each day.

Epic time reading!🙃👌 Junior Room – World Book Day 2020

As part of our World Book Day celebrations, the children dressed up as their favourite character. They also had time to explore our new reading app Epic, which allows the children to lose themselves in a wide genre of books, some audio and some read along also. Each child chose a book to listen to today and gave feedback to the rest of the class. They also completed a written activity based on their dress up character. We always read alot of books in class, this week however It is safe to say we broke a record! One of the favourites of the week was a story called ‘The book with no pictures’. With loud chanting ‘AGAIN ! AGAIN!’ It was without a doubt a hit in class. You can check out the link below to give you an insight into the type of book it is.

Remember a book is a dream that you hold in your hand!

Run around Ireland challenge

We are are very excited to be starting our Run around Ireland challenge next week. Each class in school will aim to reach various landmark destinations around Ireland, while also sharpening our Geography Knowlegde. Each lap of our Astro pitch will equate to 1km for this particular challenge and as a classroom, we will decide where we would like to visit. Keep an eye out on our Active board in the hall to monitor each class’s progress, which will be marked with coloured threads.

Thank you to the active committee and other pupils in the senior room for working out the distance from Inver to each destination!  Let’s get moving!

This month, while we continue develop the strand of Games in P.E. , we will be do using on the fundamental movement skill of Dodging. See picture below.
