We have a little football pitch in our school and we like to play there.
Our school is rural. At lunch time we like to play football. What do you like to play?
Our National language is Gaeilge. We have Irish workbooks and Irish reading and maths books. This is a picture of the Gaeilge we did in the morining. We all love Irish. I look forword to hearing about you and your school.

We would like to welcome our new QuadBlogging friends to our blog and we hope that everyone has a wonderful time over the next few weeks.
We are beginning a QuadBlogging project with two other schools:
Broadlands School, Reporoa, New Zealand http://inyourneighbourhood.edublogs.org/
and
Joseph Turner Primary in the UK http://imagine.primaryblogger.co.uk/
A QuadBlog is a collaboration between a group of schools. Read more about it at http://quadblogging.net/

We made soup today. A lady called Maureen was in our school to show us how to make vegetable soup. She put all of the ingredients on the table. Some of us were peeling and chopping. She mixed them all together with stock and water. She gave us some soup in a bowl and spoons. Then she wrote a song on the board. We all sang the song. Some liked it and some did not.

Here are the words of our song;
Thanks to earth for the food that we eat,
onions,potatoes and carrots sweet.
For sun and rain and breezes cool,
Ár mbuíochas leat a Rí na ndúl.
For cabbages, lettuces, for beans and peas,
For fruit and berries that grow on trees.
For earthworms, bacteria and honey bees,
Thank you earth, who gives us these!

For our Special Seniors’ Day, we collected wrote down some of our favourite memories of our favourite people. Here is a selection:
My memory
My memory is of my neighbour. She is friendly and lived close to us. Her name is Mary Doocey. I went with my mom to her house nearly everyday. I like her house because it’s nice. I would help her do stuff. I still go to her sometimes.
She went to Inver School when she was young. She is now 90 years old. She told me she has never left Ireland. We went for walks down the road everyday and she would tell me stories from when she was young. They had to sometimes walk to school in bare foot. The pupils missed loads of days then because their feet were too sore or it was too cold to walk. I would help my mom make dinner for her and I would make a cup of tea for her sometimes.

My special memory
My special memory is of my great nanny called Margaret Lannon. My great nanny died on the 11th of February 2008. She was 102 years old when she died. My great nanny lived in Barnacullew, in Pullatomas when the landslid happened. She and her daughter were in the house when it happened. She was famous because she was the oldest person that rescue people had to rescue. They had to get a helicoptor to bring her down but she refused to go on it.
The most special thing I did with my nanny was for her 102nd birthday party when all my cousins came home from Scotland and Donegal. There was a very big crowd at the party. We ate loads of food and drank lots too. We stayed up around 1 or 2 o’clock. We had my uncles band playing at the party and we danced all the night. I am sure my nanny enjoyed the night.
My second favourite memory is when my nanny and I went for a walk up to the spring well to get some spring water for our tea and walked all the way back again to the house.
These are my two special memories of my nanny.

My special senior
My special senior is my nanny. My special thing she did was on my birthday when she gave me lots of sweets and clothes. I felt very happy when she gave me the sweets and clothes. I shared some of my sweets with my special senior. For her birthday I am going to give her a very special present!

My special senior
One of my favourite memories of spending time with a senior citizen is the day my Granddad and I went fishing together. I was spending the weekend at my grandparent’s house, so first thing in the morning, my Nan prepared a huge picnic for us. She made us a flask of tea, lots of sandwiches and fancy cakes. We went out into the lake and when we were a good bit out, Granddad showed me how to bait my hook. After a while, we still had no fish, so we decided we would have our picnic. We rowed as far as an island in the middle of the lake. We had a lovely lunch and then we lay in the sun. After an hour or two, we went back to the fishing, but we got nothing that time either. When we got ashore, Granddad went into a shop and bought a packet of fish fingers. The look on Nan’ face was priceless when we told her that was all we caught.

My Special Senior
My special senior is my granny because me and my granny used to have great fun together.
My special memory with my granny is walking with her dog along the beach. We used to drive back behind town to Cross Beach and when we would get to the beach, we would get the dog out of the car. We would put the dog on a leash. When we got down to the beach we let the dog go and he would go straight into the water I would throw the ball out into the water and he would go get it.
Then when we were going home the dog would just jump into the car and soak all the seats. That’s my favourite memory of my granny.
The End.

Special Memory
My special senior is my granny. My special memory is when we went down her field with my dog Pippy. One day during the Summer holidays my granny and I went down her field. We had a lot of fun. My dog , Pippy , knocked me over a few times. We laughed a lot. We walked to the bottom of the field.
There were a few banks at the end of the field so we crossed them. When we had crossed the banks we were at the seashore. We had a lot of fun at the seashore too. We had a long walk. Eventually it was time to go back to her house. I was sad but when we got back to her house we played some games. When we were finished playing we went inside for something nice to eat.

Special Memory
My special memory was with my Nanny. It was when I stayed at her and Grandads
house for a few days. We did lots of different things.
First we went out to Nannys garden and watered the plants and after we planted some flowers. I enjoyed that and I think Nanny enjoyed it too.
The next day Nanny and I baked some boxty. Nanny is very good at cooking especially boxty. I had a great time baking it. When it was done Nanny, Grandad and I had some. It was lovely. I had the best time ever and I am so lucky to have a lovely Nanny and Grandad.

Our Special Seniors day and the raising of the Green flag
On Friday morning we had our Special Seniors day and the raising of the Green flag. Some of us asked a Special Senior to come in to the school for the day. Tommy, Eve’s Grandad brought in some old artefacts that they used long ago. He had old lanterns, an old pram, a record player, a churn and lots of others. We listened to a record. It was good fun. Bernie came in to make some boxty. It was nice. We wrote things about our Special Seniors and read it out to the whole school on the day. We played the tin whistles. Third, fourth, fifth and sixth played the base guitar, tin whistles and the melodicas. They played the Sally Gardens, Tell me ma and The star of the county down. It was great. Tom McHale and Eugene sang a song for us. We raised the Green Flag after lunch. The weather was very bad. We had a mass after that. We played bells and sang songs. We all had treats afterwards. It was a great day.

Recently we looked at some artefacts that the children brought in from home. It was very interesting and it integrated perfectly with our study of materials and their properties!
Active Week
Last week we had our Active Week. It was great fun. We played Unihoc, Rounders, Soccer and Basketball. There were different teams for each activity. Team A, B, C and D. We also had some games with our parachute. A man came to speak to us about water safety during the week. we learned lots of different things and he was very funny.
On Monday, we had our finals for all of the activities. It was great fun. The teams who won got a medal.
Everyone got a medal for taking part and trying their best. The All Stars for the Gaelic football got a trophy each. They were Leanne, Leah, Padraig and Lorcan. We also had a bounceathon. We all had lots of turns on the castle. During the week we all went swimming too, as part of our tour and while the older children went to the cinema, we went to Tumble Jungle. It was super! We really enjoyed Active week.

On our school tour
Last week we went on our school tour. It was fun. First we went to the toilet in the morning and after that we went on to the bus. We were all excited when the bus was going. We went to Enniscrone swimming. When we arrived we all ran into the gate. We got ready and some of us just went straight up the stairs to the water slide. After everyone got dressed we went out to eat our lunch. Some of us got popcorn and ice cream. We went on the bus to drop off the older people to the cinema then finally we got to Tumble Jungle. It was really fun because there were lots of bouncy castles and things to play with. After we went to collect the big ones and we went to Supermacs to get something to eat. Some of us got ice cream and some sweets and then we went on the bus all the way back home again. We really enjoyed our tour.

The students in Inver National School have just completed a Learning Circles project.
Our partner schools were in New Brunswick in Canada, New Jersey and Washington in the USA, in Tartarstan in Russia and in Katmandu, Nepal. We did a project about places and perspectives with them.

Our project was called ‘Outside the school gates’ and we wanted to compare what we see outside our school with what our partners see when they go outside their schools.
This is what we found and you may follow the links to compare the areas:

Chuaigh mé go dtí bainis mo chol ceathair. Phós Kendra Alan Dé Satharn. Bhí Jason agus Blake mar ghiollain. Chuir Jason agus Blake bríste liath, leine bán, carbhat oraiste agus converse dubha orthu. Bhí siad go halainn. Shiúl Jason agus Blake suas an pasáiste le mo chol ceathair Kayleigh. D’fhán mo mhamaí,mo dhaidí, Kaydean, Sophie, Jason agus mise san óstán ar feadh na oíche. Chuaigh Jason, Mamaí agus Sophie go dtí an leaba ar a trí a chlog. Chuaigh mo Dhaidí agus Kaydean agus mé féin go dtí an leaba ar ceathar a chlog. Bhí Kaydean agus mé féin an-tuirse.
Bhí an oíche an-mhaith.

We are making our First Holy Communion on the 20th of May. There are five children making it- Sophie, Grace, Shauna, Rosaleen and Kian. We are very excited. We are learning our prayers. We are doing the prayers of the faithful and the first and second readings. We are singing a song called This Little Light Of Mine. Most of the school will be joining in. We are putting pieces of art in the church. After the mass we are going up to the Community Centre to get some treats. We had to go shopping for our special clothes. It will be the best Communion ever.
